The TCA



Aims

The Trail Cyclists Association (TCA) is the National Governing Body for Mountain Bike Orienteering in the UK. It promotes & co-ordinates Trailquest and Mountain Bike Orienteering (MTBO) events, organised by affiliated clubs, that involve mountain biking and navigation.

Events are designed to test both navigational and biking skills.

They provide an enjoyable recreational ride, with the level of challenge decided entirely by yourself and your team.

The T.C.A. calender includes:

  • the National Championship Trailquest weekend
  • the National Championship MTBO weekend
  • the National trailquest points series league
  • the National MTBO points series league
  • various regional leagues events
  • a wide choice of non championship local events.
  • MTBO events in UK and abroad

Who

The TCA is run by fellow members for the membership and the sport. The TCA is a voluntary organisation relying on the good will of active members running events (Organisers) at a local level and committee members nationally. All profits from the TCA are put back into the development and running of the sport. The TCA has no full time staff.

Insurance

The Association holds an extremely comprehensive Civil Liability Insurance policy both for event organisers and participating members.

All riders in all TCA registered events are insured third party. Many other events only insure the organiser, please check with the event you are entering

Full Members will receive a reduced entry fee of £2 for each TCA approved event. Associate Members pay £2 levy per event.

This is 3rd party insurance, it does not cover personal property if you are the cause of the accident. This policy has been tailored for the needs of this recreation and includes cover for damage to property, trespass & injury, including member to member cover

Incidents likely to bring about a claim must be reported on the finish line and recorded in an accident book.

Committee

The Association is administered by an elected committee. The committee is appointed to oversee the development of the sport.

Affiliated members are welcome to bring any issue to the committee for discussion at any time.

Committee members are reimbursed for their expenses and paid £20 per month for all of the work they undertake. The TCA has accounts and these are presented at the AGM each year. The TCA is run by members for members. If you want to develop and change the sport then join us, all are welcome.

An AGM is held annually.

Affiliated to British Orienteering.

Environment

Similar to other responsible organisations, the TCA has its own environmental policy. Feel free to let us have your opinions.
